Establishment Guidelines


Establishment Guidelines of the Counseling and Guidance Committee at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology

In order to maintain the mental health and holistic development of all faculty and staff at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as Yuntech), promote life adaptation, enable the realization of individual potential, and enhance self-fulfillment, Yuntech has established the Counseling Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) in accordance with Article 8 of the Student Guidance and Counseling Act and has formulated these guidelines.

  1. The duties of the Committee are as follows
    1. To integrate relevant resources from various units within the university and review the implementation of counseling work.
    2. To review the counseling work plan and budget.
    3. To review the three-level prevention work plan for self-harm among campus students.
    4. To review important decisions of the Counseling Center.
    5. To review other matters related to the promotion of counseling work.

  2. The Committee shall have one Chief Director, who shall be the President of Yuntech; and 25 to 31 members, of which at least one-third of the total number of members should be of either gender. The composition is as follows:
    1. Administrative supervisors: Fourteen members including the Vice President, Dean of Academic Affairs, Dean of Student Affairs, Dean of General Affairs, Dean of R&D, International Dean, Chief Secretary, Deans of each College, Chief Director of the Counseling Center, Director of the Accounting Office, and Director of the Personnel Office.
    2. Staff representatives: Two members, who shall be professional counselors.
    3. Teacher representatives: Five to nine members, who shall be appointed from the heads of each teaching unit or recommended by each College.
    4. Counseling teacher representatives: Two to four members, who shall be the winners of the Yuntech Award from the previous year.
    5. Student representatives: Two members, who shall be appointed from the representatives of the University Affairs Meeting and the Student Affairs Meeting.
  3. All members serve without remuneration, with a term of one year.

  4. The Committee shall have one Executive Assistant, who shall be the Chief Director of the Counseling Center, to handle the counseling work of the Committee under the command of the Chief Director. There shall also be several professional counselors to carry out counseling work. If necessary, assistance may be sought from relevant units.

  5. For the promotion of its business, the Chief Director of the Counseling Center may recommend to the President to appoint several counseling experts as advisory members of the Committee. The relevant regulations shall be handled in accordance with the relevant regulations within the university.

  6. The Committee shall hold meetings twice each academic year, and may convene temporary meetings when necessary.

  7. These guidelines shall be implemented after being approved by the Administrative Meeting of Yuntech and ratified by the President. The same applies when amendments are made.
